‘Red Sun’ is a variety with brownish-red skin that stores well.

If shallots can be grown from seeds, they are easier to grow from bulbs and will be ready quicker. Plant your sets from Mid-March directly outside in the open ground in your prepared beds. By prepared, we mean that you would have dug in well-rotted manure 2 weeks prior planting.

Planting time: mid-March to mid-April

Spacing: 15 to 20 cm apart, just cover with loose soil, allowing the tip to show at the surface.

Harvest: From mid-summer, when the foliage starts yellowing.
